Georgia Pabst Article

Not so fast
On September 18, 2010, members of the local NAACP heed the call for justice and call-to-service. They made history in the parking lot of Stellas, 2470 N. MLKing Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The quiet but committed group of approximately 50 Milwaukeeans seems to be singing within, "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round". Just as the days of old wrongdoings of lynching and unjust behavior triggered committed Americans, African Americans and Caucasians, to come together for justice and the order of RIGHT on February 12, 1909 to form the NAACP; the efforts of the people in the Milwaukee parking lot produced the 7 required members of the 2010 Nominating Committee.
They are Lauri Wynn, Chairwoman (46 votes), Bettye Loving, Co-Chairwoman and Executive Committee Member (39 votes), Wallace White (39 votes), Elmer Anderson (39 votes), George Hooper (29 votes), Rita Johnson (28 votes), Mary Glass, Secretary (27 votes) and Tony Fikes, Alternate (25 votes).
That being said, this elected and committed group is contesting the pre-mature and dictatorial statements and charges being alleged in this article. We do not feel that the National office will “usurp” their bylaws and the membership rights of the Milwaukee Branch no matter what is being falsely reported. The local membership has not asked or authorized the costly process that is suggested but not needed.
On Wednesday, October 6, 2010, the 2010 Nominating will host its first Press Conference. It is a WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY sharing with the public.
It will be held at 12 NOON, 2740 N. MLKing Drive – the place that the 2010 Nominating Committee was elected.
Mary Glass – Secretary, 2010 Nominating Committee – Milwaukee Branch of the NAACP
